Biking and hiking is a great thing to do around the Hotel Marschall Duroc. Almost right in front of the Hotel is the “Landskrone”. It is the local mountain with an height of 420 m.
The “Königshainer Berge” are the best for hiking. The routes pass a stone pit, which is now filled up with water. Near the old trainstation “Königshain” is a educational trail of granite mining.
In the south of Görlitz you can find the Berzdorfer Lake, which is 960 hectare big. Around the old brown coal pit is a 18 km long bicycle path, that can be used by bike, on skates or just for a walk. At many places around the lake you can also go swimming.
There are two nation wide bicycle paths around Görlitz. Not far from the Hotel Marschall Duroc you will find the Oder- Neisse- Bicycle path, that is also a station of the Saxon city route. This route connects the four towns of the Lusatian League, like Bautzen, Löbau and Kamenz.
The Neissetour has to be recommended. On this route with a distance of 150 km bikers get to know the Silesian Lusatia. The route connects over 40 sight and recreational facilities, for example the castle Königshain, castle Krobnitz with its landscape park, artificial lake Quitzdorf, the old ginger bread museum or island “Einsiedel” in Zentendorf.
